## Life

Born to a Mexican-Indian IWW member and German socialist pacifist,
Carlos became involved in radical politics from a young age, refusing to
join the army in [World War II](World_War_II "wikilink") and becoming
involved in graphics work. In 1947, he joined the IWW and worked as a
cartoonist.
