The **October Revolution** (also known as **Red October**, the
**Bolshevik Coup**, **Bolshevik Revolution**, **October Uprising**,*'
October Coup*' or the **Great October Socialist Revolution**) was a

[Vladimir Lenin](Vladimir_Lenin "wikilink") and the Bolsheviks, which
dissolved the Provisional Government, established socialist control and
paved the way for the [Russian Civil War](Russian_Civil_War "wikilink")
