From 1944 to 1989, the Polish People's Republic was the second largest
socialist state in Europe (after Russia) and made several major
advances, including

  - Pursuing industralisation and urbanisation
  - Expanding women's rights
  - Expanding reproductive rights and teaching sex education in schools
  - Seeing a boom in cinema and TV shows.
