**Varlam Cherkezishvili** (1846 - 1925) was a journalist and

## Life
|
|
|
|
### Early Life
|
|
|
|
He was born into the high-up Georgian nobility, and was sent to be
|
|
educated in Russia in the 1850s.
|
|
|
|
### Radicalistation
|
|
|
|
He joined the early Russian Socialist Movement, was arrested twice,
|
|
jailed and exiled to [Siberia](Russian_Federation "wikilink"). He soon
|
|
escaped to Europe and joined the [Jura
|
|
Federation](Jura_Federation "wikilink") in
|
|
[Switzerland](Swiss_Confederation "wikilink") and befriended [James
|
|
Gillib](James_Gillib "wikilink"), [Ellis
|
|
Recluse](Ellis_Recluse "wikilink"), [Peter

He wrote extensively for various radical media, focusing mainly on
|
|
Georgia's freedom from Russia. He gave many speeches and started
|
|
petitions to get its independence. He also signed the manifesto of the
|
|
sixteen, where [anarchists](Anarchism "wikilink") supported the Allies
|
|
in [World War I](World_War_I "wikilink").
|

### Death
